Staff and residents enjoyed an in-house Christmas party where there was music, dancing and entertainment performed by both staff and residents. Gifts donated by Dart Global were given to the residents and staff. Bishop’s College Social Services Club donated dry rations.

 

Virtual AGM

In normal circumstances the Home’s AGM is held in March but because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we were unable to have it. The AGM was held on August 1 via zoom and the following people were elected to the board:

Dr. Ruwani Jayewardene (President), Mrs. Indira Wettasinghe Mrs. Nirmalini Kannangara, Mrs. Veena Jayasundera and Mrs. Joan Jayamanne (Vice Presidents), Ms. Minoli de Soysa (Secretary), Mrs. Anoja Karunaratne (Assistant Secretary), Mrs. Devika Anthonisz (Treasurer), Mrs. Manel de Mel, Prof. Arundathi Kurukulasuriya, Mr. T. Someswaran, Mrs. Swun-kou Fernando, Mrs. Enaksha Perera and Mr. Sarinda Unamboowe (Committee Members). Ms. Heather de Lanerolle resigned from the committee due to personal reasons.

 

Staff Positions Confirmed

Matron Ms. Catherine Fernandez and Assistant Matron Ms. Kumari Kumarage were confirmed in their respective posts.
